Are you one of those parents that has a really good camera but you don't really know how to use it?  Do you want to take better shots of your family, pets and friends?  Do you find that sometimes you get some really good shots and then others times they aren't so good?  if so, I am delighted to offer you a relaxed and informative Beginners Photography Course to help you understand your DSLR.

Set in Nottingham, near Bestwood Country Park, I would like to help you improve and show you how to get better photos.  The course is based in between classroom and on location and you will leave with plenty of useful reference material.

  • Exposure.
  • Composition.
  • Getting off Auto Mode.
  • F-Stops.
  • Using light.
  • A Practical 'Hands On' Experience.

To improve your camera skills. I will work with you on each of the above topics so you have a better understanding of them.  We will look at the difference in lenses, ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speeds and and also spend plenty of time taking photos.

Who is the course for?

The course is aimed at beginners although if you have a little understanding of shutter speeds or Apertures and are unsure of how they work with each other then the course be just the final piece of the jigsaw in taking control of your camera and shooting in manual.

What will I learn?

The day starts off with coffee and and covers aspects from holding and handling your camera correctly to shooting on full manual mode.  We will get you away from Auto mode and get you telling the camera what to do to get the shot! We will look at composing images in amber and look at ending/enhancing images.

What do I need to Bring?

All you really need is your camera, any lenses you have, a full charged battery (and spare if you have one).  You will also need a memory card and if you can find it - your camera's user manual.  A notebook and pen may also help.  Best of all bring a willingness to learn and remember to dress accordingly to the weather as we will spend time indoors and out. Umbrellas will be provided and we will work in pairs on wet days.

How much does it Cost?

The cost of the day is £95.  This includes tea/coffee and a scrummy lunch with homemade cakes and soft drinks.  I don't allow for any more than 6 attendees so that I can give you the very best of my time.  You will also leave with some printed course materials to help you continue your journey.  Each courses starts at 10.00am and finish at about 3.00pm.
